Safety of Industrial Tricycles

Industrial tricycles offer a viable alternative for some delivery services and industrial transport uses. Safety with these tricycles depends on quality construction, correct assembly, operator awareness and common-sense driving practices.
Construction
Many tricycles are made of compact steel frames. This makes them rather formidable little vehicles. Some also come equipped with LED lights mounted on pedals or other devices to enhance visibility. Regardless, solid construction is only effective if you assemble it right.
Assembly
The vast majority of industrial tricycles come to you disassembled. You are responsible for building the trike and following the manufacturer's instructions to the letter. Often, manufacturers post the assembly and safety manuals on the Internet for your convenience. Before purchasing a tricycle, see if similar resources are available to you.
Operations
Follow all the bicycle laws specific to your locale. Stay off to the right and don't weave through traffic. Never take passengers and don't drive at night. If you must drive at night, wear reflective clothing. Do not overload the cargo basket. If you are driving it around an industrial facility, be aware of co-workers on foot and other vehicles. Always read safety manuals thoroughly for other tips and instructions.
